New Horizons' Faith Statements!
New Horizons' approach to doctrine can be expressed through the motto "In Essentials Unity,
In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Love!"

Our Essential Beliefs Include:
  • The Bible is True!
The Bible is God's inspired Word through which we discover Gods plan for our salvation and instruction
for living a purpose filled and abundant life.

  • God loves all people unconditionally.
God's love does not depend upon our actions or decisions. God loves us despite our sin. Through His son, Jesus Christ, God's love found it's most dramatic revelation to humankind.
    (John 3:16, I John 4:10, I John 4:16b)

  • We are sinners in need of a Savior.
This does not mean that a person can not do good or act in kindness. It does mean that my sin creates a insurmountable distance between a perfect God and an imperfect me that I can not overcome by my own strength.
    (Romans 3:23, 7:14-20 Eph. 2:8-9)

  • Jesus died for our sins and rose from death to life!
While I can not pay for my sins, Jesus could and did by dying on the cross. When he rose from the grave He opened the door to the possibility of a new, purposeful, and eternal life with God.
    (John 10:14-18, I John 2:2)

  • When I confess my sins and place my faith in Christ, I am forgiven and become
a child of God for eternity
    .
God chose to love us and send us His Son, but my response to God love is up to me. My only hope to be in relationship to God rests in my decision to confess my sins to God and accept His Son, Jesus Christ, as the "remedy" for my sins.
    (John 3:16, Rom. 3: 2:22-26, I John 1:9)

  • Jesus was fully God and fully human.
God took on human flesh in order to clearly demonstrate His great love for you and me in the person of Jesus Christ.
    (John 1:1-3, 14, Phil 2:6)

  • God's Spirit lives in every believer to lead the way.
God the Holy Spirit is equal with God the Father and God the Son. We are not left to struggle on our own strength to live up to God's instructions. God's Spirit lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation providing strength, wisdom and guidance to live our lives according to His commands.
    (Acts 2:38, John 14:16-17, John 16:7-15, I Corinthians 3:16, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 1:13-14)

  • Believers of the Word are to be doers of the Word.
We are saved by faith in Christ and can not earn our salvation. But as faith matures, our life should change to become more like Jesus.
    (Romans 6:11-14, James 1;22)

  • All Believers form the Church.
We do not believe that we hold the corner on the truth over other Christian Churches. In fact, our vision for ministry calls us to complement, not compete with, other Christian ministries in our community.
    (Matthew 23:8, John 17:21, Eph 4:4)

  • Christ will come Again as He promised!
Christ's work on earth will not be complete until He returns, as He promised, to establish God's Kingdom in its fulness.
    (Matthew 24, Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:14-17, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4)
